• What does a doula do?

A doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. We do not replace medical professionals but offer continuous, personalized care for the birthing person and their family.

  • What’s the difference between a doula and a midwife?

A midwife provides medical care and delivers babies. A doula offers non-medical support—comfort techniques, education, and advocacy—to help you feel confident and supported throughout your experience.

  • Do doulas only support unmedicated births?

Not at all! Doulas support all types of births—hospital, home, birth center, medicated, unmedicated, Cesarean, and VBAC. Our role is to support your choices and help you feel empowered.

  • Will a doula replace my partner?

No. A doula supports both the birthing person and their partner. We work as a team to help everyone feel informed, calm, and confident. Many partners say a doula helped them feel more involved.

  • When should I hire a doula?

You can hire a doula at any point, but many families reach out during the second trimester to start building a connection and receive support through pregnancy. Early booking also ensures availability.

  • Do doulas attend Cesarean births?

Yes! Doulas can support planned or unplanned Cesarean births by offering emotional support, helping prepare for the procedure, and providing postpartum guidance and recovery support.

  • What if I don’t want a birth plan?

That’s okay! A doula can help you explore your preferences at your comfort level. Whether you want a detailed plan or just want someone to support you in the moment, we’re here for you.

  • What services are included in doula support?

Depending on the package, services may include prenatal visits, birth planning, on-call labor support, comfort techniques during birth, immediate postpartum care, and postpartum visits.

  • Is doula support covered by insurance?

Some insurance plans, FSAs, or HSAs may reimburse doula services. I can provide a receipt or invoice you can submit. It's worth asking your provider! here
